The Rockies, an impressive mountain range.

The big difference to the Alps is the exposure in the sense of wilderness and freedom. The peaks there can be over 4000m high, but as a rule they are similar to our peaks in the Alps. Geologically they do not really differ from our mountains here. Alpinistically the Rockies offer a broad range of options. Ice climbing there is something special. As soon as you leave the car to start the ascent, you immediately feel the huge dimensions.

These facts have been the reason to go to Canada for ice climbing for the fourth time.

The options there are almost unlimited and unique. From the beginner to the absolute professional - there is something for everyone, the right conditions provided.

With our experience as well as stable contacts to the locals, we are able to very well assess whether good conditions prevail. Gerry Unterasinger, our friend and fellow mountain guide, has been living in Canmore for more than 20 years, and on request he can provide us with information about the prevailing conditions.

We offer trips planned long ahead, but what has proved to be very good are the trips planned at short notice in order to be able to react to the given weather conditions. So everyone gets their money's worth.

GUIDED TRIP 12 days

precondition is level 2 of our ice climbing programme

On this trip the mountain guide will take care of everything. Planning, selection and guiding of waterfalls, safety management and tactics.
If desired, and based on level 2, we can deal with learning goals of level 3 and level 4.

The options, such as in Hafner Creek to give just one example, are unlimited.

Possible schedule:

Flight to Calgary. By rental car (preferably an off-road vehicle) to Canmore - to an accommodation according to your wishes.

Then the conditions are checked and we start with easy climbing tours e.g. at the Professor Fall or in Hafner Creek.
An absolute highlight is the Weeping Wall at Icefields Parkway, where in fine weather you can climb in the sun facing south.

Depending on weather and conditions, Field is an absolutely easily accessible hotspot. With sufficient skill, a Rockies classic will be considered in any case, e.g. the Sea of Wapors on the Trophy Wall or the Sorcerer or Hydrophobia in Ghost Valley.

These 12 days will certainly be an unforgettable ice climbing trip.
